CURIOSITY

Yes, leadership is, in part, about guiding others—but it’s also about constantly learning and growing yourself.

Mark Ruckstuhl and I recently had the privilege of spending the better part of a morning and lunch with two exceptional leaders: both retired 3-star Vice Admirals - @Scott Buschman and (Dean) William D. Lee.

For me, one of the most valuable insights from our conversation was the importance of curiosity—an essential quality for any leader. True leadership requires the humility to admit we don’t have all the answers and the courage to seek perspectives beyond our own.

Whether it’s engaging with seasoned leaders, gathering input from your team or peers, or learning from those outside your field, curiosity enables us to challenge assumptions, expand our understanding, and make better decisions.

The best leaders I’ve encountered aren’t just knowledgeable—they are deeply curious. They recognize that everyone they meet brings unique stories, perspectives, and wisdom that can drive personal and organizational growth.

Character prevails.
